据NnursingTimes网站消息,为帮助英国国民保健署(NHS)应对跌倒问题,国家卫生和护理研究院(NICE)最近做出了一系列基于广泛实践的声明,NICE认为跌倒是导致老年人残疾和死亡的一个主要原因。
根据NICE调查,在英国,75岁以上的老年人大约有30%每年会跌倒一次,80岁或更年长者跌倒发生率会增加到50%, 大约有5%的跌倒者需要接受治疗或者住院。
NICE近日发布了一项新的防跌质控标准,该标准可用于老年人跌倒后评估及跌倒的预防,以便医院和社区更好地开展服务,帮助提高老年人的生活质量、减少跌倒相关性损伤的发生率。
该标准建议那些居住在社区(包括养老院)和有跌倒史的老年人,要进行力量和平衡的训练。新标准还提到医护专业人员应该为每一位因跌倒而来院就诊的老人做风险评估。 对于那些因跌倒而住院的患者,在他们出院前,医院应该为其进行“居家环境危险因素评估”和其他必要的帮助,以避免跌倒事件再次发生。
NICE副总裁、保健和社会服务部总监Leng Gillian教授说:“这项标准实实在在地在帮助保健工作者、执业医师和专业评估人员,并着力提高他们所提供的护理服务质量。” “新标准尤其强调,为最大可能地保证人们能享有高质量的护理服务,需要从事保健和社会服务的医护人员共同努力。”她说。
最新标准包括以下几项:
1.NHS organisations with inpatient beds must have easily accessible ‘post-fall’ protocols that outline how to promptly and safely care for any older person who falls during their stay.
2.Doctors and nurses who see older people who have fallen refer them for specialist assessment to identify anything that might make them fall again and how it can be avoided in the future.
3.Older people with a history of recurrent falls are referred to an expert who will help them start exercises to build up their muscle strength and improve balance.
4.Older people who have received hospital treatment for a fall are offered a visit from a trained professional who can check their home for anything that can put them at risk of falling again.
